A car loan shark attacked a woman in California’s Bay Area over a car loan last month, prompting a nationwide manhunt for him.

A police department spokesman said Thursday that the woman had been driving her car on the 101 Freeway, north of San Francisco, when a man jumped out of a car and began hitting her car.

The man then drove off, and police found him later that evening on Interstate 5 in Santa Cruz.

The woman was treated at a hospital and released, the spokesman said.

No charges have been filed.

Authorities said they have recovered the suspect’s car and are trying to identify his victims.
